Wouldn't moving the embedded BeanShell to another package break plugins that may be using BeanShell? If backward compatibility can be preserved, I vote for moving it. Among other things, the embedded BeanShell prevents automated testing of jEdit using Abbot&Costello, and I'm very much interested in using these tools to automated jEdit testing.
