Thats where I am coming from. I totally agree with Jason. It is a big pain setting up the whole properties again, also I am aware that the possible cause of weirdness would be the plugin(in most cases).Setting each plugin options becomes a big pain, especially when you want to be updated with new version. I am looking at some solution, which would help this be a smoother upgrade. e.g: let jEdit deliver its properties file, and let have each plugin have its own properties file. I agree that plugin version/compatibility would not be in sync with the jEdit version. But having each plugin its own plugin, we would be atleast be very sure that whenever I upgrade, my new jEdit version would work with my old jEdit properties file. I can then try enabling the plugin to see what had caused the problem for the weirdness. I know this can be a big change in architecture, but this would help in upgrades. To attract new users who are not very technical, if we dont have a smoother upgrades, they would just stop using it.
