[ jEdit-users ] what is the best approach to move from pre7 to pre8 ?

Every time I do install new version of jEdit, I have to go through the whole
process of copying the files in mode directory, copying the macros, setting
properties, etc.

Is there a better approach of upgrading it without all the pain ?
