Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nicholas O'Leary (olearyni) Assigned to: Marcelo Vanzin (vanza) Summary: ClassCastException with XercesPlugin and jEdit CVS Initial Comment: This has been reported on the mailing list, but there isn't an open bug for it.. so here it is. With the latest CVS jEdit, if you have the XercesPlugin installed, you get the following exception on startup - which leaves jEdit unusable. The workaround is to remove the XercesPlugin - which disables any other plugins that depend on it. [error] Registers: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser incompatible with org.xml.sax.XMLReader [error] Registers: at org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory.loadClass(Unknown Source) [error] Registers: at org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader(Unknown Source) [error] Registers: at org.gjt.sp.jedit.MiscUtilities.parseXML(Unknown Source) [error] Registers: at org.gjt.sp.jedit.PerspectiveManager.loadPerspective(Unknown Source) [error] Registers: at org.gjt.sp.jedit.jEdit$5.run(Unknown Source) [error] Registers: at java.awt.event.InvocationEvent.dispatch(InvocationEvent.java:240) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:543) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:268) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:197) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:191) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:183) [error] Registers: at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:144) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Marcelo Vanzin (vanza) Date: 2006-06-20 23:59 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=75113 I can't reproduce it, either with old or new XercesPlugin. Nicholas, I'm attaching my private version of JARClassLoader.java to this bug; since you're building jEdit CVS, could you try it with this file and see if you still see the problem? Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Alan Ezust (ezust) Date: 2006-06-20 18:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=935841 I can't reproduce this. Try updating that from CVS, and remove plugin-apis.jar. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nicholas O'Leary (olearyni) Date: 2006-06-20 12:19 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=631957 I do not have the XML plugin installed. In trying to track this bug down, I removed all XML-related plugins before adding them one at a time. I added the XercesPlugin and saw this issue. I have not readded the XML plugin itself since. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Alan Ezust (ezust) Date: 2006-06-20 10:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=935841 This should be fixed in CVS. And actually it's a bug in the XML plugin. Please try updating to XML 0.18.1 and see if everything works the way it should. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=1509218&group_id=588 |
