[ jEdit-users ] jedit is slower than other windows progs

I love Jedit. It is the best editor I've tried. But it is also slower 
than all other more "normal" windows progs. I think it is because it 
uses java. Many operations are slower. What can I do to raise the speed? 
Buy more ram?
