Scratch that, it displays the buffer tab and the contents match-- always the 
'first' file.  But the title bar of the JEdit window and the filename in the 
drop-down select list just above the text show the "remembered" file.  If 
you then click the "correct" tab, the one that matches the displayed 
filenames, the displayed text does NOT change, it still shows the "first" 
file.  Clicking any other tab works-- displayed text and displayed filenames 
change.
