Hi, I'm using debian with kernel 2.6.9, both java RE1.4.2_07 and jdk1.5.0_01 and the folowing is 100% reproductible in every java app. I'm asking help from you because this is the only java list i subscribe and i couldn't find a good reference in sun site (readed all their futile readmes) 1. characthers like =E7 and dead keys + letters (=E1=ED=FA,etc) works flawlessly in X, every app, console, curses, but java. 2. in java it generates a square. My first tought was that the font was bugged. Changed it without luck. Then copied the international letters from another app and pasted into jedit, and it worked! So, it fully reconizes my accents. It opens files in iso-8895-1 and utf-8 and correctly identifies the encoding, and shows the correct letters. But if i type them, i get a square. I tried to find another easy-to-install-with-apt-get java app, but all i could came up with was the plugin config utility and web start :) it's 100% reproductible there too. Tried all those tests with both with 1.5 and 1.4.2. and changing the X keyboard layout and map contless times. If i use the accents plugin, it works and i get the correct chars. This is driving me crazy. i'm googling for two days now :-/ Appreciate any help on this! Thanks Gabriel |
