I've had a similar problem writing Applets (and Java Web Start app's), and it had to do with Java's "sandbox" security. An applet, for example, can use the system clipboard iff it uses a native text control, but not if it uses a custom control, like a lightweight component. It's goofy. I use lightweights, and I've had to add code to pop up a native text field whenever the user wants to paste from the system clipboard. Blech! With Java Web Start, I've read that unless all the JARs are signed and the application explicitly requests system privileges, it can't access the system clipboard at all. So this smells like a security problem to me. --Jason Van Cleve -- Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software. |
