Using text mode, jEdit 4.2pre1, on Deb sid. How can I force jEdit to wrap at a specific column? (Something like set-fill-column in Emacs?) Chinese or Japanese text does not delineate 'words' with spaces so word wrap doesn't seem to do the job here. I think it relates to this from a message I found in the archives: <quote> Many of the lines generated are well over 1000characters long. That's not good. It makes dealing with the resulting HTML file painful. They should wrap at the designated wrap column for HTMLs (or the column to wrap at should be a config item). Also, the wrapping should happen within tags so that superflous whitespace doesn't creep into the rendered code. </quote> But I'm a translator (Chinese to English, Japanese to English), not a programmer, and so far this is the only show-stopper I've found trying to use jEdit in my professional CE or JE translation work.
