[ jEdit-users ] toggle-readonly macro not as good as it used to be

I am using the enclosed macro to toggle the read-only state of a buffer.
When I first started using it, some releases ago, it worked immediately.
Now (4.1pre5) it requires me to select another buffer and then go back,
or to reload the current buffer, before the new file state is mirrored
by the buffer state.

Is there anything I can add to the macro to get the buffer state to
change immediately?
