The View Source issue has been discussed on the list before. I had success (and zero problems) with replacing the notepad.exe with jedit.exe I have been running with it since march. http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=1312866 John Gellene added a registry hack to the jEdit distribution. It was there last time i looked. It adds jedit as the view source editor in the internet explorer registry. I run that at my home computer and that works alright too. I have one problem with it though: jEdit doesn't just open the source file (a temp file placed in "Documents and settings") some times it seems that it also tries to open a file for each word in the path "documents" "and" "settings" etc. I can't reproduce it now though. So it might just be me. Look for jEdit_IE.reg.txt where you have jEdit installed. Surely the registry hack is the "nice" way. But the die-hard replacement of notepad.exe also has the advantage that it will work for any program that will try to launch notepad.exe If you use jEdit a lot for web-development you will also be happy to set the default mode in jEdit to the HTML mode. That way you get syntax highlighting in "View Souce" files too, since they don't have the needed .html extension. Hope that helps /Lasse BTW. Maybe this should go into the FAQ ? Or perhaps the windows installer should offer to run the registry hack ? ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through Jay.net: http://www.jay.net |
