This morning I set jEdit (4.0pre7 Windows) to backup on every save, and I set the max number of backups to 9999. I also have backups going to w:\backup\jedit. However, it does not seem to be backing up the files I have open via FTP. (Which is all of them...) Is there a setting for 'no limit' on the numbered backups, maybe setting it to 0 or -1? Also, now when I save a file opened locally (not via FTP) it takes a LONG time to save. Over 15 seconds, during which time I can't do anything in jEdit. (I can't switch to a different buffer, or get any menus to drop down. Mouse pointer is stuck as a vertical bar (caret?) and I can move the mouse but jEdit isn't listening.) In contrast, when I save a file that's open via FTP, the menus still work and I can switch to a different buffer and keep typing while the other file is being saved. In neither case can I edit the file that's being saved while the I/O operation is occurring. -- Wendy in Chandler, AZ |
