Hi, Are you using the Sessions plugin? Because jEdit correctly eliminates the untitled buffer when a file is opened, but this depends on a special flag being set on the untitled file. This flag is set when a file is created with the 'New File' command, or when jEdit is opened with the 'restore files' option switched off, but the Sessions plugin might create an Untitled file without this flag set. Dirk, to fix this, you must call jEdit.newFile(), not jEdit.openFile("Untitled-1").
