Hi,

I'm currently running 4.0pre4 on JDK 1.4rc on Solaris 2.8. I've noticed a
strange phenomenon where the encoding field on the status bar defaults to
'ISO646-US' or sometimes just '646' whereas my default encoding is set to
ISO8859-1.

Furthermore it seems to me that the 'Open with Encoding' should be
integrated into jEdit's file chooser instead of being implemented as yet
another menuitem.

One thing about the 'Recent Files' section of the BufferList. You can open
a recent file by double clicking it, but if you want to close it via
BufferList you should move your mouse to the Open Files section and double
click it there. I think a filename should either disappear from the Recent
Files once it has been opened, or the doubleclick behaviour should be the
same in both sections.
