I started to look at the code this evening. I fixed a couple of NPE's it was
throwing at initialization of the dockable component.  If nobody minds, I'll
try to clean it up tonight and tomorrow, then maybe others will have ideas
as to features or other issues.  This is a useful concept and could form an
element of a larger "project" package.

Once it's working on a reasonable basis, I'll put it on CVS so we can have
some real collaboration (if people are willing).
