Hi

I frequently need to view Japanese source files. The comments are in
Japanese and I would like to see them appear in jEdit with the Japanese
(Kanji) character set. I am running jEdit 4.2 final on Windows XP and
the Japanese characters appears as nonsense:=20

e.g. =C5=A0i=E2=80=9D[=C6=92 =C6=92b=C6=92Z =
[=C6=92W=E2=80=9A=C3=8C=C6=92 =C6=92b=C6=92Z =
[=C6=92W=E2=80=99=C2=B7=E2=80=9A=C3=8C =E2=80=A1=C5=92v=09

How can I modify my environment to see the Japanese characters?

Is this a setting in Windows, in jEdit or both?

Open it in the right encoding. I would guess the file is saved as UTF-8. 
Try open it with that encoding. If it still shows non-sense, ask the 
author or whoelse which encoding he saved the files in.
