There are only two places where that message can come from, one for regular printing and one for the print preview. The one for regular printing should have printed a stack trace to the Activity Log. Do you see one? If so, would you send it to me? Thanks, Dale On Sat, Oct 12, 2019 at 11:33 AM Edward Diener <eld...@tr...> wrote: > Running JEdit 5.5.0 on Windows 10, I have two printers. Running JEdit 5.5.0 on Windows 10, I have two printers. One is currently low in one of its toner cartridges, but can still print, while the other is fine. When I try to Print in JEdit I get: "An error occurred while trying to print. Invalid print service." and JEdit can not print my current file. The printing function had always been working before so I do not know why it has stopped working. I suspect it is simply because of the low toner cartridge, but I have changed nothing in JEdit to keep it from working. |

Ok, Had not seen this as I was using an older version of this plugin. Hello, AFAIK there is no way to format JSON in JEdit. Please correct me if I am wrong. So I would like to contribute the following macro to format JSON: ~/jEdit/5.2.0/macros/Text/JSON_indent.bsh : ------------------------------------------------------------- import java.lang.StringBuffer; JEditTextArea jeTextArea = (JEditTextArea)textArea; String originalText = jeTextArea.getText(); char[] chars = originalText.toCharArray(); jeTextArea.setText(""); StringBuffer ret = new StringBuffer(); int indent_width = 1; int indent = 1; boolean begin_quotes = false; String newline = "\n"; for (int i = 0, indent = 0; i < chars.length; i++) { char c = chars[i]; if (c == '\"') { ret.append(c); begin_quotes = !begin_quotes; continue; } if (!begin_quotes) { switch (c) { case '{': case '[': indent += indent_width; ret.append(c + newline); for (int j=0; j<indent; j++) { ret.append(" "); } continue; case '}': case ']': ret.append(newline); if ((indent -= indent_width) > 0) { for (int j=0; j<indent; j++) { ret.append(" "); } } ret.append(c); continue; case ':': ret.append(c + " "); continue; case ',': ret.append(c + newline); if (indent > 0) { for (int j=0; j<indent; j++) { ret.append(" "); } } continue; default: if (Character.isWhitespace(c)) { continue; } else { ret.append(c); } } } else { ret.append(c + (c == '\\' ? "" + chars[++i] : "")); } } jeTextArea.setText(ret.toString()); |

I have experience with Nuance Dragon for dictating long passages of text. It is very accurate, learns your voice over time and has numerous features ... and priced accordingly. There is a minor irritation in that it doesn't actually "support" jEdit. For software that it doesn't support, a "dictation box" pops up when you begin to speak, and every so often you transfer the contents (ctrl-T) to the jEdit buffer. Voice Typing is typically provided by the operating system as an input method, so it can be used in any application. There is no reason to write a jedit-specific plugin for that. Not directly, but if you have an Android phone that supports voice typing, you could try KDE Connect, https://community.kde.org/KDEConnect. You can install the plugin "SynchroScroll". Is this possible in Jedit: Split window vertically, open one document in the left window, the other document in the right window. And now to link those windows in a such way that I can move up/down in one window and the document in the other window will move in the same way also. The reason for that is that I need to translate text. I am going to translate the given text in the right window and write the translated text to the left windows. That way I can have ( more or less) the same lines- formating in the translated text like original) Thanks for hellp -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus |

Hello, I'm a long time jedit user. Years ago I used the Templates plugin, now I tried installing it again on jEdit 5.5.0, but whenever I try to insert a template in the current buffer I get this error message: An error occurred while attempting to process a template. Refer to the Activity Log for more details in the activity log there is this message: 11.01.14 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: Error processing template 'html tag_javascript.js' 11.01.14 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: java.lang.NullPointerException 11.01.14 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: at org.apache.velocity.runtime.resource.ResourceManagerImpl.getResource(ResourceManagerImpl.java:294) 11.24.27 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: at org.apache.velocity.runtime.RuntimeInstance.getTemplate(RuntimeInstance.java:1533) 11.24.27 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: at org.apache.velocity.app.VelocityEngine.mergeTemplate(VelocityEngine.java:343) 11.24.27 [AWT-EventQueue-0] [error] TemplatesPlugin: at org.apache.velocity.app.VelocityEngine.mergeTemplate(VelocityEngine.java:320) [...] Can anybody help me to make it work? thanks |

Development has recently picked up, and a bunch of bugs were recently fixed. I suspect we will be releasing a newer jEdit before the end of the year. Daily builds are currently down, my jenkins server is gone. I wonder whether the jEdit project has died, because - I don't get any response on any of the postings I wrote in the past months in the forum, - The bug report i sent to the jedit-users lists now waits already 10 days for moderator approval, i.e. it is neither approved nor rejected, - The community page on http://community.jedit.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=faq&file=index shows only a white page under Firefox, no information, so it probably isn't be maintained either. In the Library/jEdit folder, you will find the "properties" file, where all plugins and jEdit store properties, as well as the "plugins/ftp.FtpPlugin" directory is where the FTP plugin stores its data. You can see the properties file in a regular text editor and remove the lines in it that are no longer relevant. I'm a long time Jedit user, and recently I've seen an issue connecting to a remote linux server from my OS X system. Instead of connecting to the IP I've specified, it's connecting to a different IP, one I've used in the past. I don't seem to be able to wipe Jedit's memory in the correct place to fix this. I have trashed the preferences in Library, but there must be something else I'm not aware of.Any help would be appreciated. I really prefer Jedit's JDiff over anything else I've used.Thanks,-Kirk -- Sent from: http://jedit.9.x6.nabble.com/jedit-users-f1810117.html |

I am trying to use DNS with jedit. DNS doesn't work natively with jedit; instead it pops up a "Dictation Box", into which you dictate text that can the pasted into jedit by pressing ctrl-T. On my office computer it works, but on my laptop, jedit simply freezes: I can't close the dictation box nor can I close jedit. I have to go to the task manager and kill it. Any ideas?! Thanks Moti |

Speaking of plugin maintenance, it may have slipped through the cracks that Kermit Kiser, author of the NetRexx plugin, died in 2016, as reported to NetRexx.org. -- "Life isn't one damn thing after another -- it's the same damn thing over and over." -- Edna St Vincent Millay |
