#1229 All my settings got lost

I really have no way of reproducing this error, only to say:

I'm using jEdit 4.1pre2 on Windows2000 on a computer
that only I have access to. I had installed a bunch of
plugins, over time.

Today I started jEdit and ALL my settings where gone,
except jEdit new which files I had open last time I used
it.

All shortcuts, plugin settings, color settings..etc..buhu..

This problem might be caused by a plugin opening file
descriptors without closing them; eventually the system runs
out of file descriptors, and the settings cannot be saved
and so are lost.

jEdit 4.2pre4 should no longer lose settings under any
circumstances. If saving new settings fails, the old
settings will remain intact.
