#1331 PostgreSQL

Dear itop team:

First of all thanks for this amazing tool. We are very intrested in implementing our CMDB and other ITIL concepts within our organization BUT our Arquitecture Department decided to use PostgreSQL as first choice community software DB after benchmarking it against MySQL/MariaDB.
So Arquitecture Deparment prompts us to request you consider let itop use postgreSQL as an optional DB before we continue. If you would plan to include this option in future releases then our proyect may start now and then migrate to a PostgreSQL/iTOP
We know this is huge effort but we also think this could make itop an even more elegible tools since many other IT departments could be facing these situation.

Hi iTop Team,

Please note that postgres support relation inheritance, so that way be a huge advantage over mysql, considering the iTop architecture.

Also Postgres is well known to deal with huge tables much better than mysql.

If i can from my point of view:

For me it is not question about functionality, guess both db engines will do the same work, but about customer environment (db backup routines etc). Possibility use for iTop also PostgreSQL gives iTop flexibility adopt better in customer environment. In my country is not used mysql/mariadb often for bussines.
