Is it just me, or is it confusing to have a Person icon which is clearly female?
Would it make more sense to have a non-distinctive icon (so definitely not asking for a "male" icon)?
For a moment I was even confused looking at my own contact tab (just thought it might have been a default avatar) :)

I'm not sure to follow, in iTop 2.7 and older it's a very similar picture but it's in another style (not flat) and a male. Is it the new style that looks more like an actual avatar to you?

Actually while looking at the screenshot above, I also note the visual style is also still different for "Contacts" compared to "Team" and "Person". Just a minor note.
It did change compared to 2.7 where it was a male.
Also, another thing: the "updated" message is collapsible. But it's a little weird: it can be collapsed till no text is shown, just a little bar. Probably because there's an optional "title" or something?

The new icon style is also not present on the contacts dashboard:

Yeah, I think it is the fact that it is displayed in a circle in the Person detail page that makes one think it is an avatar..
