   -m002000 specific MC (bus 00,sa 20,lun 00)

   -s snum  Sets the Product Serial Number

   -x       Display extra debug messages

       -N node  Nodename or IP address of target system

       -U user  Username for remote node

       -P/-R pswd  Remote Password

       -E   use password from Environment IPMI_PASSWORD

       -F   force driver type (e.g. imb, lan2)

       -J 0 use lanplus cipher suite 0: 0 thru 14, 3=default

       -T 1 use auth Type: 1=MD2, 2=MD5(default)

       -V 2 use priVilege level: 2=user, 4=admin(default)

       -Y   prompt for remote password

Hi Andy:

Does ipmiutil support ipmi command over LAN like ipmitool does? Ipmitool
allows read and write to different FRU ID's, ipmiutil doesn't seem to
support this..

Hi Andy:

Thank you for your reply. We are actually an OEM integrator. We purchase
ATCA processors, switches, and carriers, integrate them with other
items. That is why it is feasible for us (in our opinion) to access the
PRODUCT INFORMATION AREA as to the BOARD INFORMATION AREA

For example, we have AMC storage blade using AMC carrier from Kontron
and AMC SSDs from GEFanuc, all the information in the "BOARD INFORMATION
AREA" for the AMCs and Carrier would stay the same, but at the assembly
level, we would like to Modify the Carrier's PRODUCT INFORMATION AREA to
characterize our assembly level details (see below for example)


PRODUCT INFORMATION AREA

Product Name                   : AMC Storage Blade Assembly
Product Part/Model Number      : AMC-SDD-1033
Product Version Number         : FW 3.0
Product Serial Number          : 231231312
Asset Tag                      : 2010-03-10

By doing so, our factory can have better control of our assembly level
products.

Most of the FRU fields are added in the factory, and are seldom changed.
There are some FRU fields that should not be readily editable in
customer deployments.   The Board Serial Number for instance needs to be
preserved.

However, some integrators do modify certain Product area fields, and
ipmiutil fru does support editing the Product asset tag (-a) and the
Product Serial number (-s).    

Adding the Product Version as a field that could be modified is
possible, but we want to be careful to only make it easy to edit FRU
fields where there is a use case.   

Is this intended to be used by integrators, or end customers?   Why
would it be desirable to change the Product Version as opposed to using
the Asset Tag or an OEM field for that?

I wonder has anyone did or is planning to add a full FRU editor feature
to "ipmiutil fru" or "ipmitool fru" functionality? Right ipmiutil only
allows changes to the "Asset Tag" field. I am interested in changing
"Product Version" and "Product Serial Number".
