This project has been released since 2001, so it is interesting that this hasn't been an issue until now, but I understand that libtool for RHEL would not be a fit for Debian. It does pose some issues from my end though, because I have now retired and my infrastructure to build and test all of the various OS versions is limited. In any case, let's see what can be done in the near term.
The official current source tarball is always at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipmiutil/files/ipmiutil-3.2.2.tar.gz and copied to github and sf git.
If you are looking to add the source into Debian OS, then doing a 'make distclean' should remove the old libtool, right?
Many users currently pick up the pre-built packages from ipmiutil.sourceforge.net (e.g. https://ipmiutil.sourceforge.net/FILES/ipmiutil_3.1.3-1_ubuntu14_amd64.deb)
Or are you trying to just build one of the latest version for testing/use?
