Is this an appropriate place for an IDS user to post bug reports and/or support questions? If not is there a better place? Thanks, Dave |

Thanks for your input. However, I double checked and all NTFS permissions are wide open (I am logged onto the server as admin)--everyone can read/write/execute. I also set the virtual directories and permissions according to the instructions on the site. As per below, the line in idsShared.pm that chokes is 449: the line in question open (LANG,"$localizationFile") || bail ("can't open localization file \"$localizationFile\": ($!)"); However, I can navigate via browser to webhosting.cypressintegrated.com/ids/localizations/English.txt Also, FTR I am using an ActiveState Build and I was wrong about Image Magick, it is v5.49. One thing I did notice however, was that iiscfg.pl which I ran on install, didn't seem to do everything it is supposed to (for instance it didnt "virtualize" the postcomment dir) however I set these parameters manually, following the instructions on the website. I see there is a debug parameter in iiscfg.pl. Should I run it again with debug on? Thanks. Brian Donnelly TK> Line 449 in idsShared is a write to a log file. Line 449 in idsShared is a write to a log file. You might have a problem with NTFS permissions. Permissions may also be the culprit in the rename problem. Also, you state that you are running ImageMagick 1.10. Image Magick is now somewhere around 5.5, so you may want to make sure that you are running a current version. I know I have had luck with 5.45 for some time, so I'm actually out of date... You also do not mention what build of perl you are running, I recommend the ActiveState builds. Hope this helps! I just installed IDS on Win2K (IIS5) and when I go to webhosting.cypressintegrated.com/ids/ I get the following error: "Can't call method "self_url" on an undefined value at D:\inetpub\webhosting.cypressintegrated.com\ids/idsShared.pm line 449. " I have tested test_magick.pl and test.pl and they seem to be working. ids/admin seems to work--however: I can create new albums, change name of existing albums, etc. But if I try to rename an image I get: "IDS\admin\index.cgi: Exception 410: Reference is not my type (Image::Magick) at ../idsShared.pm line 641." Hope I am not missing something too obvious. Other environment variables: PERL 5.6.1 Image_Magick 1.10 Image Info 1.10 Any clues would be greatly appreciated. I'm writing a new theme to intergrate IDS into my home page. Is there a document somewhere that describes the 40 or so template variables? BTW, any chance of using HTML::Template in a future version? From the list archives it looks like you folks abhor dependencies, but it's a great template engine and CPAN and most Linux distributions make installation a no-brainer. -- Jacob Elder http://www.lucidpark.net/ |

FYI, I've found a work around for this problem. Under IDS album preferences, I turned off "Display 'thumbnail' corner icon?". This causes line 641 not to be executed to try and combine the image with the icon, so everything works. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone else who might come across this problem. If I was guessing, which I am, I would say that there is a new find function in perl and that it is not being called correctly. What it requires is looking at the Find code and then looking at how it is called from the application. That will help with the patch and fix. Anyone want to volunteer to do this? -Scott At 12:22 PM 9/10/2002 +0300, Hans Lehtinen wrote: >Hello, > >I have installed IDS to my ISP's Linux -based web server. If I place the jpg in the sample album directory manually, it still occurs. 2. index.cgi shows the album with correct icon (random pic of album content), but when clicked, the error occurs. Is there anything I missed or anything I can provide to help find the problem? Thank you. Jiawei Ye |

Hi all! I just modified apache to use mod_perl for IDS (0.82). Everything is working fine except when I choose an image size other than "original", I get a horribly pixelated seemingly 8-bit image. The only change I made (besides compiling and installing mod_perl-1.27 via CPAN) are to httpd.conf: <Files index.cgi> SetHandler perl-script PerlHandler Apache::Registry Options ExecCGI Order deny, allow Allow from all </Files> I read thru all back-posts, and didn't see anything describing my problem, although I read lots that said IDS pre B1.0 *won't* work with mod_perl...'course, I started playing with this before I read the backposts....seems it works Ok after all! Images are loading twice as fast now! Anyone have any ideas? BTW, the /admin/index.cgi script was really flakey running under mod_perl, so I just renamed it admin.cgi so it would run with straight perl. If interested, website is at http://www.kpacek.com Click on "photos" on the left. Below is some possibly usefull info. Thanks, -krp # /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -v Server version: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) Server built: Sep 2 2002 18:53:56 # perl -v This is perl, v5.8.0 built for sun4-solaris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello folks, It's been a while since I posted anything, and it's about time I speak up. As many of you may have noticed, I took over development of IDS from John Moose. A huge Thank You goes out to him for creating IDS in the first place. I'm sure many of you are enjoying it. Now onto other things. Life likes to throw us nasty curve balls sometimes. And I'm afraid I've caught one in the past several months. After some 20+ years of working behind computers, I now have what can be considered the beginnings of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) which is causing me severe pain in both wrists which consequently cuts down on the time I spend behind the screen. Quite honestly my workflow has gone from my usual 16 to 18 hours a day, to a mere 8, sometimes a lot less. This severely impacts what I can do on IDS, unfortunately. I would still like to continue the development of IDS, however it's now going at a much, MUCH, slower pace than I originally had hoped for. Having said that, I'm hoping everyone here understands why there isn't much going on in terms of development. I am still answering to bug issues (and yes, I am aware of a search problem with .82 right, and I have the solution, I just haven't had a chance to check in a new tar ball yet), however I may take a while to reply to general e-mail. I'm sorry for this - can anyone make me some robotic hands? Fast, sleek, five fingers, opposable thumbs, and able to perform just as well? No? Darnit. What I'm looking for at the moment: people willing to help. As I cope with my injury, I may not be able to get to a fix and/or patch as fast as I would like to (or as fast as other people would like to), so I'm looking for someone who's willing to step into the hot box with me and actively help out. I may even choose more than one person (however having too many is not a good thing either, unless I start designating parts of IDS to specific teams of people, and there is no need for that yet.) Do you feel up to the task? Do you want to contribute to an exciting project? Are you willing to dedicate a small portion of your time to help a cripple? (ok, that was low... <grin>) If so, please let me know. It would help if you're already on SourceForge, I will certainly put those candidate first, however I will consider everyone who replies (even John himself. <grin> ) For the time being, I would like to thank everyone who has e-mailed me with their patches for the various bugs they've found. Thank you to everyone for their suggestions and other comments. Let's not forget those silent ones as well, everyone in general, Thank You!
