You make me think about it . I need to upload a new version for Firefox 2.0 and AMD 64. It is here, http://indexof.co.uk/HtmlValidator-0.7.9.5-x86-64/ It was done by Matthew. Hi Stefano, Please give me an example. And also try the version 0.8x to see if it does not solve your issue. http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/preview_080.html It is nearly no beta software. There are nearly no bug in it. Marc bargioni wrote: > Dear Marc, > HTML Validator rises errors for web pages that contain xml islands. Is > there a way to avoid this? Hidding the xml island? Hi Mac, Just for the explanation. - I do not have the HTML header of the page anymore. - But the HTML body only. So, the header is generated on the fly, I mean the <head> tags, <title>...; The DOCTYPE is regenerated based on some other info. For what javascript generates in Firefox, it depends of your javascript and of firefox. It can be that javascript generates HTML tags in XHTML, in such a case a bug should be logged in Firefox. Hope it helps, Marc Mac Cleary wrote: > Marc -- > > I just noticed that the loss of the XHTML tag close (<br /> rather than > <br>) occurs within the JavaScript generated markup, in addition to the > static markup. > > I also see that you have chosen to alter the !DOCTYPE statement and > replace the <head>...</head> block when Post JavaScript validation is > done:-( I can see adding a <meta> tag to note the use of your extension, > but complete removal (and therefore no validation) of the <head> tag seems > extreme. Hello, It is quite long to explain. But you have to imagine that the source of=20 a HTML is represented as HTML in Firefox. Nice HTML with a lot of <pre> tags. So, to put the line numbers, there are several ways. 1) rewrite everything (it would be very long). There is a bug in=20 Bugzilla for it. You can vote to get it fixed ! https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D246620 2) modify the HTML containing the source of the HTML to add line numbers. If I do this, I have 2 possibilities a) before each line, add a line number. But it has a lot of inconvenients. The line number become=20 selectable. And it does not align well vertically. But the real problem is that it is very slow. Adding lines to a=20 page with 5000 lines takes 30 sec what nobody is ready to wait so long. If this was done, line wrapping would be possible. In short this give this: =20 Line without wrapping 1. This is a long long long long long line. 2. It it line 2. Choice A 1. This is a long long long long long line. 2. It it line 2. b) add a frame next to the source code with line numbers: This is what I do. It is a lot faster about 2 sec or less for=20 5000 lines. But if you do line-wrapping the line will not coincide between=20 the 2 frames. This is why the line-wrapping and line-number are incompatible=20 for now. In short this give this: =20 Line =B2without wrapping 1. 2. This is a long long long long long line. It it line 2. Choice B 1. 2. This is a long long long long long line. It it line 2. So, like you see both way have problems: 1) is a too big work, has to be done in C/C++ 2) a) is too slow b) works but no line numbers. I am open to any good solution :-) I hope it explains the problem and why it is not solvable easily. Marc Spectroscope wrote: > Just loaded the new beta. Just loaded the new beta. I'm aware that this has been discussed (I wrote myself earlier that there was another thread) but I can't find this discussion anymore. So her it goes again: When I enable "Show line numbers" in the "View" menu the two menu items "Wrap long lines" and "Syntax highlighting" get lost. While the latter feature doesn't seem to be affected the wrapping turns off and can't turned on again, even when you disable the line numbering after that. Any chance of a fix for that? |

Thanks Rich, Really I do not know what to say. It is quite unlogical, since the both files are identical on my site and on addons.mozilla I do not understand what happened ? I think the OS detection was working fine. Also it had probably worked else you had got no libnstidy.so after installing. Very strange. Anyway thanks for reporting the problem. Hi Paul, Do you have a reproducible testcase. If so, it would be good to log a bug in bugzilla. My extension does not handle focus and should not cause any problem about this. If this happen, it is probably a xul bug that should be solved. It would be very nice if you have such testcase !! I can log the bug if you want. Hi Andreas, The "validate now" function was broken by fix intorduced to make the extension work with Firefox 2.0. It is fixed in version 0.835 that I think to release this week-end with a lot of other changes. Well, i would like to validate the genearted Source after using AJAX, but there seem to be some problems. 1. FF converts xhtml to html when generating DOM(Generated Source shown by Web Developer Toolbar ist valid html, doesn't matter what i do) 2. The validated source isn't the generated, it's the original, or why do i see the original Source when klicking on "Validate now" I've even tried to generate invalid xhtml using JS, i got no errors. Please tell me what i did wrong, Andreas Ringlstetter |

I don't know if I already asked, but I would like to see the ability to make tidy not check inline frames (or force validation to the current URL domain). I'm thinking about adsense which are never valid, and make show the ugly error or warning emblem :) thank you! |

Hi Vitaly, It is maybe something to do about XPCOM ... Please look in the error console to see the error message. Please maybe try this: cd <your firefox directory> export LD_PRELOAD=libxpcom.so ./firefox Thanks, Marc Ps: Strange this works for me on Suse SLES9 ? Which distribution do you use ?
