Hi Dexter, In fact, I am the writer of the extension. What you describe is a really complex problem, that is described here and that handle 4 types of character sets. Anyway, i have maybe a fix for it. It is not the real release 0.840 but it contains a fix. I would be interested if you could test it and report me the results: Please do this: 1) open this URL in Firefox, install the extension. http://htmlvalidator.sourceforge.net/mozilla/tidy_firefox_win_0840.xpi <http://htmlvalidator.sourceforge.net/mozilla/tidy_firefox_win_0840.xpi> 2) this will maybe raise small green line on the top. Allow the website to install the extension Then retry. 3) when the new version is installed, does it fix the bug ? Thanks in advance, Marc Ps: for more info see here : http://www.htmlpedia.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7 <http://www.htmlpedia.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7> Dexter wrote: > Hello! > > When I installed new version of HTML Validator 0.8.x, I have found a > bug: > > When you have polish letters in user name in Windows ex. Hi David, The extension does not save the file back to the original file. First, I will not do it without the user agreement. And second, as Firefox works in Unicode, in which charset should I save the page back ?? Due that it is impossible to answer to this question for most page. I just do not save it ! You need to copy/paste in your favorite editor to save it back and this editor will take care of your charset. Hope it helps, Marc David J Nelson wrote: > > Hi Marc, > I am using v0.8.3.9 on WIN/XP and I seem to be having a problem but > the problem may be that I'm not using the tool correctly. > When I check my web page, I do see that I have errors in the code. If people are running an Selinux-enabled system (such as Fedora Core 6) then they need to make sure that shared text relocation is enabled. The flag to set is textrel_shlib_t. This is in addition to installing compat-stdlibc++-33. Cheers Jim Bannon |

Hello, Sorry, I had completely misunderstood the question. In short, it would be really easy to add the question is if I begin to add latin1, what other charsets should I include. And it could become a never ending story. The options exists in Tidy, it is here: > http://tidy.sourceforge.net/docs/quickref.html#output-encoding How much do you need this ? Hi Adam, This is a really annoying issue. Since it could be very difficult to solve. I know it works in some accentuated case. But never saw the issue in the last weeks. What is your exact OS ? And the language in which Windows XX is installed ? Polish ? Can you run the extension in debug mode ? I mean - Type about:config in the URL - Then set the value of tidy.options.debug, is it set to true. - Then run the extension some time and send me this the file tidy_firefox_diag.log Thanks, Marc Adam Kuśmierz wrote: > Hi, > there is a problem, when in Windows' login name is (are) specified > sign out of standard Unicode (ie. for my national language - polish - > żółćęśąźń). > Your plugin has tried to access to doesn't exist User Folder (in > Documents and Settings - see logs). > > Before I created User Folder with wrong spelling my username, FF alerts: > --------------------------- > Warning > --------------------------- > Can not create DiagLog file: C:\Documents and Settings\Adam > Ku[mierz\Dane > aplikacji\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\a4xkxwf5.default\tidy/tidy_last_validated.html > > --------------------------- > OK > --------------------------- > (instead of C:\Documents and Settings\Adam KuŚmierz\...) > > Kind Regards, > Adam Kuśmierz > |

I think you are right. Do you know a good open source forum program that use PHP and mysql. I can try to set that up. And let point a mozilla forum thread to it. Thanks, Marc ---------------------------------------- Hey Marc, on your website you write \"Due that no bug was reported for the RC4, the version 0.839 will be 1rst 0.8x production version.\" Have you considered that mailing lists may not be the best way to gather feedback? Hey Marc, on your website you write "Due that no bug was reported for the RC4, the version 0.839 will be 1rst 0.8x production version." None of this has anything to do with my question. Hi, The extension get the HTML from the browser. The browser does the charset conversion based on your HTTP header or the HTML header. The extension get the HTML in unicode and never make charset conversion. So, maybe look in your HTTP header or in HTML header. A trick, look the tools/Page info. Can you explain more about this: > for each profile folders (in my case it was only 'g7f41cg.default') go into profile folder and set up executable bit on subfolder 'tidy' Question ----------- 1) Is it based on 0.839 ? 2) if yes, maybe go in tidyUtil.js and try to find the creation of the tidy directory, this line: > file.create(Components.interfaces.nsIFile.DIRECTORY_TYPE, 0664); 664 is an Unix priv. If there is a better value 700 ? 3) delete the tidy directory and retry If it works better, please tell me and I will fix it in my code. Hi Dmitriy, Of course, if I have it. I will place it on the download side. Also, it would be interesting if you had problem to do it to tell me what so that I can change this page: > http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/compile.html I intend to set the Windows version 0.839 on addons.mozilla.org this week. I mean in production. Wish me good luck :-) Thanks by advance, Marc Dmitriy Buldakov wrote: > Hi Marc. > > First of all I am happy to say you big thanks! > > Your HTML Validator with SGML parser is a real great tool. > > But, unfortunately, we were not able to use you tool as full as > possible because our primary OS is FreeBSD and you do not provide > FreeBSD xpi package. Why does the Tidy insist on utf or ascii when it clean a page? Why can't I clean with iso-8859-1 encoding ? |

Hi Michael, I have the extension 0.839 and Firefox 2.0.0.2 on Windows XP and it still work ? Does it happen for all pages ? Just some of them and in which circonstances ? Maybe try to - clean the cache and - restart Firefox. - look in the error console to see if there is any bug Which OS exactly and which type of user is the biggest question. Hi all, I have release a new version 0.838 that mostly include a fix in OpenSP that allows to keep the sgml-lib with the DTDs in profile directory even for users with non-ascii characters in their name. I hope that this allow the extension to work in Vista. But I have no Vista to test. If all is fine, it could be the last release candidate. Enjoy, Marc New Release Candate 4: 0.839 (Extension 0.839 / Htmlpedia 20070205 / LibraryVersion 20070306) * SGML bug: Skip the space at the start of the file to detect the DTD type * Translation problem solved: description of the extension in the Addons screen can now be translated. * Big change in the handling of the characterset for the OpenSP files. Consequences: o Because of this, the 0.8x extension installs now fine as an end-user on XP and should be also installable as an end-user on Vista too. I hope !! o the SGML lib was modified to handle 2 charsets: one for the files UTF8 and one for the files names (OS charset). This makes this change possible for Windows user with non-ascii character in their username. o On Windows, All temporary files created by the extension are created in the profile directory in place Program Files. o SGML_LIB can stay now in the profile directory, it is not copied anymore OLD: C:\Program files\mozilla firefox\sgml-lib\ NEW: C:\Documents and Settings\mgueury\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\b6at4lbb.default\extensions\{3b56bcc7-54e5-44a2-9b44 |
