I have a nano 8th gen and don't know how to add songs to it without Windows. I don't have a Windows machine that I can rely on, only a raspberry pi. I already in Windows have formated, added few songs, enabled manually management of songs, idk how else to proceed. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! I'm trying to write a program to find the most played albums on my iPod. I was hoping simply to pull the information from ~/.gtkpod/iTunesDB.ext, but the information is not there. Are play counts accessible through any of the files in ~/.gtkpod, or could they be made so? Or is it necessary to write C code against the libgtkpod API? Thanks, Norman |

Hey, The 2.1.4 documentation says that I can add a directory to a repository. The closest button I can find on the GUI is "Add Folder Contents" which doesn't add directories, just the contents as I would expect. Is the doc out of date or am I missing it? Please advise. -David |

David, I always get that warning “Some directories failed to be added...” when adding tracks to my ipods. Still, everything seems to work on the ipods and all of the tracks are added, so I’ve always ignored it. Hopefully, someone will look into it. -- -Mannex On Monday, 08 September 2014 10:54:49 David Reid waxed eloquent: > Hey All, > > I have a question since I moved from gtkpod 2.1.3 to 2.1.4 along with > getting a new 80G iPod classic. Hey All, I have a question since I moved from gtkpod 2.1.3 to 2.1.4 along with getting a new 80G iPod classic. I used to add music to the iPod by selecting my iPod in the left pane then from the Music/Add folders menu I select a folder of music and click the Add button. Previously, when I added music this way I saw the folder appear in a tree under my iPod. Now when I try to add a folder I get a curious "Some directories failed to be added but no errors were reported." message even though all the tracks in the folder show in the right pane. Has gtkpod changed how to add folders, do I have a preference wrong (I looked at them), or am I doing something else wrong? I thought a possible workaround might be selecting the iPod in the left pane and selecting "Configure Repositories" from the Edit menu, and then from the playlists tab using the "On startup automatically sync with the directory:" radio button, but I can't select from the list or change from the prepopulated directories without gtkpod crashing. Googling and reading the documentation haven't led me to a solution. Thanks In Advance, David |

Every time I try to add lyrics to an mp3 file, when I click 'Apply', everything looks good but it doesn't get saved. When I click at another music and click back at the music I just added the lyrics, it's just empty as if it wasn't saved. It happens with local music and music in the iPod. Am I doing something wrong or it's a bug? Can someone reproduce it? I'm using gtkpod 2.1.4 -- Raul |

Hi Ubuntu-14.04 is released soon. I've tested Ubuntu-14.04-beta1 but the repository gtkpod-2.1.4 seems to be broken. Says "Segmentation fault". So I need to compile gtkpod-2.1.4 or gtkpod-git myself. I previously did this some time ago with Ubuntu-12.04. Does anybody have any recent experience compiling gtkpod with Ubuntu? If so, which repo packages do I need to install, and which (if any) do I need to compile. |

Hello: As you know, the iPod shuffle doesn't have a screen so the only way to know what is playing is to activate the voice over. My question is... Is there a way to create a voice over for an audiofile to be transfered to the iPod? If not, I can help, I have an IPod shuffle and I offer to use it for testing. Thanks in advance. -- A. |

Hi! This is my first posting to this list. I use Banshee 2.6.1 on Ubuntu 13.10 Linux (64-bit) and up until recently, I was able to sync music without issue. Then, recently I'm not able to transfer music to the iPod. In Banshee, I can see the iPod just fine and I can play the music that's on the iPod just fine. On my Ubuntu 13.10 system, I have libgpod 0.8.2 installed. When I first got the iPod, I used iTunes on Windows XP to get it setup. Over the past few years, I've been able to add music to the iPod from either iTunes on Windows XP or in Banshee on Ubuntu Linux. For some reason recently, when I try to update the iPod within Banshee, Banshee converts the file to the appropriate format and tries to update the iPod but it never completes. Is there any way I can find out if libgpod is having some kind of problem accessing the iPod's files? Thanks in advance! Peace... Tom -- /When we dance, you have a way with me, Stay with me... Hi, I've installed libgpod 0.8.2, gtkpod 2.1.4, and ifuse 1.1.2 in the hopes that I can synch with my 2nd generation ipod touch running iOS 3.1.2. With ifuse I am able to mount the ipod successfully and have no trouble reading or writing to the mount. When I run gtkpod -m /mnt/ipod however it doesn't recognize any devices. According to (http://www.gtkpod.org/wiki/Libgpod) it seems that libgpod should support ipod touches with the exception of ipod touch 4. The ipod has been synched with itunes in the past. Is this ipod not supported or is there another issue? Thanks for any help, Adlai |

Greetings! I recently upgraded to Kubuntu (Ubuntu with KDE) 13.10 64 bit, and I no longer have drag and drop functionality. I select a track and try to drag it but it never see the hand icon and the track never moves. I've been to drag and drop and reorder tracks in the playlists before, but not since the upgrade to 13.10. Am I missing a dependency or other settings? This is something of a show stopper at this point. Thanks!, Brian |
