I tested it again, on a full install of Slackware 14.0 and Slackware64 14.0. The issue appears only on Slackware64. On Slackware the track filter works as expected. So I guess it's indeed a 64 bit issue. And I'm using Salix OS in 64 bit, too. This has just been fixed in the git repository, if you would like to compile yourself. Otherwise, I will see if I can do another release in the next couple of weeks. Evening, Due to the update of sourceforge's website interface, which was advised by them a couple of months back, the git repository was also migrated. What I didn't realise was the old git repository was not deleted and still remains. Consequently, a few commits have been pushed to it rather than the new git repo. I have cherry-picked these accordingly so the master branch in the new git repo is up-to-date. To summarise: old repo -> gtkpod.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/gtkpod/gtkpod new repo -> git.code.sf.net/p/gtkpod/code I'll keep track of both for the time being in case anyone else pushes to the old repo but if you could update your local repos, I would appreciate it. Cheers PGR |

Hi, I've installed gtkpod 2.1.3 from SlackBuilds.org (http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.0/multimedia/gtkpod/) on Salix OS. The problem is that the track filter doesn't work. Usually when I click onto an album, an artist or whatever in the track filter, the playlist tracks should only show the files which belong to what's selected in the track filter. And every action like deleting, editing or the like only applied to the displayed and selected files. This was the behaviour in gtkpod 2.1.2 on Arch Linux. Now with gtkpod 2.1.3 on Salix OS selecting anything in the track filter doesn't do anything. Even if I click onto an album, the playlist tracks stay the same and show every file. The actions like deleting or editing is also applied to every file on the iPod. Does anyone know how this could be solved? I've already installed every dependency that I could find in the PKGBUILD for Arch Linux and the ebuild for Gentoo. Or in other words, what is needed for the track filter to work? The package maintainer on SlackBuilds.org told me, that he can't reproduce this issue. Cheers, Heiko |

The iPhone and iPod touch is not a USB storage device, so it doesn't matter how it is formatted. Access to its files is done via ifuse, which uses libimobiledevice. Regards, Tino |

I'm running Suse 11.4, and have gtkpod 1.0.0 loaded. Is there an automatic update sub for this? I'm not a Linux expert (so dunno about doing stuff manually), I just want to update to the current version, and it doesn't seem to be in any of the repositories that YAST knows. |

Writing doesn't work probably because your iPhone is formatted in journalling hfsplus, a filesystem linux only supports in readonly mode. If you initialize it on Windows, you'll get a VFAT filesystem and writing is possible. However, you may still be out of luck, because support for iphone 4 etc. and ipod 6G/7G is a problem because of apples closed source and closed data policies. 2013/1/26 Tino Keitel <tin...@gm...> > Hi, > > I can read the music stored on an iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1, but > wrinting does not work, and I get a few messages that I don't know if > they are fatal. > > First, there is some music on the device written with iTunes. Yep, the checksum is unsupported. As stated here[1] in the supported hardware section, all iOS devices are unsupported due to the hashing algorithm being obfuscated and not reverse engineered yet... when will it be reverse engineered - impossible to say and not sure anyone is currently working on it. Until, then libgpod only has support for older ipods. Hi, I can read the music stored on an iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1, but wrinting does not work, and I get a few messages that I don't know if they are fatal. First, there is some music on the device written with iTunes. When I start gtkpod, it hashes the content. Then I get this message: "Import Repository Errors", "Extended Info will not be used." When I try to add music, gtkpod seems to copy the music to the device. After writing, I get the message "Unsupported checksum type". When restarting gtkpod and saving the changes, the music is not shown. The mp3 files are present in the Tunes_Control/Music/F* directories, so I guess it's the database which is the culprit. Is there something I am missing? Is this configuration strictly read only and not supported for write operations, without any workaround? Regards, Tino |

Hi, My son just has been given an iPod nano (7G) (model 2012/2013). First of all, it is being formatted with hfsplus by OS X with journalling enabled. So I used diskutil to remove journalling. Now the device can be be mounted rw in linux. Next, so turns out, the device has a lot of user root/group root files. and all iPod stuff has uid 99/gid 99. So I did: chown -R hans.hans /media/disk/iPod_Control Next I did: sudo umount /media/disk sudo mount /dev/sdb2 /media/disk -o uid=1000,gid=1000 Now the device is recognized by banshee (using gtkpod) and banshee can put music on the device. However, it cannot update the music database. I get the following warning: encountered iPod thumb with ID = 0. ** (Banshee:20266): CRITICAL **: file db-artwork-writer.c: line 1085 (ipod_artwork_mark_new_doubles): should not be reached ** (Banshee:20266): CRITICAL **: itdb_splr_validate: assertion `at != ITDB_SPLAT_UNKNOWN' failed (Banshee:20266): GLib-WARNING **: (/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.32.3/./glib/gerror.c:390):g_error_new_valist: runtime check failed: (domain != 0) [Warn 17:26:40.806] Failed to save iPod database - GLib.GException: Unsupported checksum type (in `libgpod-sharp') at GPod.ITDB.Write () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 at Banshee.Dap.AppleDevice.AppleDeviceSource.SyncDatabase (Banshee.ServiceStack.UserJob progressUpdater) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 Is there a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance for answers, Hans |

The people to contact are teuf, marcan and israr (?). My fun always stopped at gtkpod (UI). It would be good to get everything working with the latest devices but there are a number of roadblocks. Not been much activity over the last few years. PGR |
