Hi all, I have taken the sound-juicer code, stripped it down and included it as the optional sjcd plugin, allowing ripping from cd and adding directly to an ipod / local repository. Also, in answering requests from a couple of users, I have created an 'external player' plugin, which offers a play command (available by right-clicking on tracks) that open the tracks in the user-preferred application. The app being configurable in the preferences. This restores functionality taken out due to the addition of the media player plugin. Both need some testing so any bugs, let me know. PGR -- "I know exactly who reads the papers ... The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country. The Times is read by people who do actually run the country. The Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country. The Financial Times is read by the people who own the country. The Morning Star is read by the people who think the country ought to be run by another country. The Daily Telegraph is read by the people who think it is." Jim Hacker, Yes Minister |

Using libgpod, I have written a small C program[1] to copy a given mp3 to an iPod. This works, actually -- tracks are present in the itdb after unmounting and remounting the ipod. However, when I look on the iPod itself, the tracks are nowhere to be found. The only indication of error is the following message: ** (process:27501): CRITICAL **: itdb_splr_validate: assertion `at != ITDB_SPLAT_UNKNOWN' failed >From digging around in the source code of libgpod, it looks like all this means is that the library encountered a weird smart playlist. What is going on here? [1]: http://github.com/rhdoenges/cpod |

Evening, I have now moved the git branches around so the repo makes more sense to everybody. The gtk-3.0 branch, ie. the main dev stream, is not back on master and represents gtkpod 2.1.2 unstable. The gtk-2.0-legacy branch has now been created and this remains conceptually gtkpod 2.0.3 unstable, although no work has been done on it for a while. Hope that is a little clearer. Cheers phantomjinx -- "I know exactly who reads the papers ... The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country. The organisation had evolved over the last couple of years. Basically the master branch still reflects the gtk2 stream up to version 2.0.2 of gtkpod. The gtk-3.0 branch is the latest dev stream devoted to gtk3 code and 2.1.0 and above. It may be time to move the gtk3 stream to master and migrate the gtk2 stream to it's own backports branch. What do you think? PGR -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity. Just for infomation: there's also a problem that comes up for Ubuntu users who have some file names with Cyrillic characters. Ubuntu has made 'dash' the default shell for scripts, and dash has a long-standing bug that causes it to mishandle Cyrillic file names. I have worked around it in my local copy of gtkpod by forcing the scripts to explicitly use bash instead of /bin/sh. You probably don't want to modify gtkpod to work around this problem, since the bug is in dash (and in Ubuntu's choice to switch to dash). But you might hear of other users with a similar problem. - Walt Ogburn Hey. Thanks for letting me know. PGR -- Sent from my Android phone with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity. |

Hi, please forget Point 3! HashingSheme inside the database header is set to "3" and there is no 58-Hash und no 72-Hash - but "something mysterious" behind... annoying. :( But something like the "Locations.itdb.cbk" i really couldn't find. Hi, today i had the chance to get temporarily an iPhone 4Gs from an colleague of mine and had a first look into the database stuff. Here my first explorations: 1.) The sqlite-database stuff is no more split into 5 databases inside the "iTunes Library.itlp" folder but there is only one database file, called "MediaLibrary.sqlitedb" inside the "iTunes_Control/iTunes" folder. 2.) The artwork is no more split into several "*.ithmb" files containing the RAW-image data but there is a single file: "MediaLibrary-artwork.data" inside the "iTunes_Control/iTunes" folder containing the "real" JPEG image data one after another (each starting with the typical fingerprint "FFD8 FFE0 0010 4A46 4946"). 3.) The "iTunesCDB" has the hashingSheme set to "1" and therefore only the 58-Hash is present. Something similar for the sqlite-DB (like the "Locations.itdb.cbk" on the former models) I couldn't find. But what about the AB-stuff? Because of the totally changed sqlite-DB-handling i suspect that there is a lot of implementation work to be done to support this iPhone model. Maybe this is also the case with the former requested Nano 6. Gen integration - but I'm unsure because of I've never hold one in my hand. If one is interested in some of the files from the phone or some brainstorming... i will regulary read this list. Or is this all well-known and the work on this is already in progress?
