Dear Frederick Noronha, Once you wrote about "[Gramps-users] GRAMPS tip-of-the-day": > Below is the second installment of proposed TipsOfTheDay. Your feedback > and comments are welcome. The first lot, reworked, is at the bottom. FN Great work! :) > ASKING RELATIVES BEFORE IT IS TO LATE: Your oldest relatives could be your > most important source of information. Wow, even a non-technical tip - great! :) > THE PEOPLE VIEW: The People view throws up a list of all individuals in the > database. I think we should mention it. > IMPROVING GRAMPS: Users are entitled to request enhancements to GRAMPS. > Requesting an enhancement can be done either through the gramps-users or > gramps-devel mailing lists, or by creating a Request for Enhancement (RFE). > The last is preferred. I think we should point users to the site here, or mention that they can use menu item Help->GRAMP home page. > WHO'S THE OLDEST OF US ALL? Or even the minimum > age at which a woman bore a child. Cool, I didn't know that. :) It would be great if Gramps could show relevant people easily. Creating a filter is possible, I get, but that's a lot of clicks. > TOTD compiled around mid-September, 2004 > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > TIPS OF THE DAY: GRAMPS's development version has the option of popping up a > window with the tip of the day about the use of GRAMPS. To add your own tip, send it in to > xx...@xx...xx Is this right? :) I would also like to add the recent discovery with selecting preferred name, thanks to Alex :) CHANGING PREFERRED NAME: If a person has several names, it is very easy to manage these names in Gramps. Find the person in the Family view, double-click on the record, and open Names tab. You can add different types of names here, like Married Name, Birth Name, etc. Selecting a preferred name is just a matter of right-clicking on the name and choosing the only item in the menu. -- Leonid Mamchenkov. http://mamchenkov.net |
