Kevin, We spoke before, but since your situation might have changed since then: what version of GNOME desktop do you have installed? If it's GNOME2 then you need python-gnome2 package (python-gnome is for GNOME1 desktop). If you have GNOME1 desktop, then gramps2 will not be able to install and/or run.
