Thanks to all for very helpful responses. I had no idea it would be this easy. The sharing/moving issue comes up between an Mac Mini desktop and an old Windows netbook that I will take to the library infrequently. None of the media appears to be linked to anything...my next task is to see if it was linked in Family Tree Maker (I got the GEDCOM and media files from my sister), and proceed from there. As the files are time-stamp named, there is no way simple way to put the media files in to surname-tree directory structure. If I can establish some citation/person linking, I may look at writing an add-in of some type to copy files to a new directory, and modify the EXIF and other metadata to tag it based upon the linking/citations. I could then point the base path to the new directory tree and have access to OS search capabilities without having to rename files and update media links in Gramps Bruce Moore On 02/19/2014 03:27 AM, Benny Malengier wrote: > For this, see also > https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Organise_your_files > before you change all your files.
