I agree that a switch will probably not work, but would like to see simpler
screens in some places, like sources/citations.

Examples are FamilySearch

where FamilySearch may be too simple, because it doesn't make a difference
between source and citation. Ancestry does, and has all elements that I
daily use, including URL.

Elements of these screens could be built in the main tab of this screen in
Gramps:

The note area should be editable here, and more notes could be added in a
tab like manner, like you open extra tabs in your browser. The behind this
is that adding a source/citation should be no more difficult than writing an
email.
