Gramps has three main applications on its website: (1) MantisBT bugtracker, (2) MediaWiki wiki/documentation (3) WordPress main site/blog. Currently all of these are accessed solely through http, with a possibility of some security implications. As well, it would just be 'good practice' to utilise https... We are considering introducing a certificate (available without charge to Open Source projects such as Gramps!) so that we would use https for each of the applications. The intention/hope would be that it would not impact on users - that if you tried for a page with http, it would re-direct you to using https anyway, without you having to remember. But that might have some teething issues, given the diversity of the applications involved. I'd welcome any discussion, pro or con, with a view to making any change considered acceptable to us generally sometime in middle/late January. Nick Tauranga, NZ |
