Hi This assumes the grub bootloader, which is by far and away the most likely. As Fedora boots up, you may or may not always get a blue screen with different kernel options for a few seconds. If you do, then type a space to stop the clock counting down. If you don't, then type spaces as soon as you can as it boots and you should get the screen appearing. Choose the top option and hit the 'e' key. Look for the line that begins 'kernel' and select it with the down/up keys. Then hit the 'e' key again. Go to the end of the line and append a space followed by the word 'single'. Then hit the 'b' key for boot. After a while, the computer should complete booting and present you with a # prompt. Type the passwd command and hit enter. You will be asked for a new password, which will not echo. Enter something and then the enter key. You will be asked to re-enter the password, again without echo. Hit enter to complete. The system will report password changed, inshallah. Control D or control-alt-delete to re-boot. Once logged in as yourself again, try installing gramps and use your new root password. Finally, remember to record your password on a post-it and place strategically on the wall behind your screen. Hope this helps. Nick On Tue, 2011-11-15 at 13:44 +0000, S Staley wrote: > Don't blame me! My technician thought I might find it easier. I > don't know if he's right or not.
