Hi, I saw an overview of their API[1][2]. Maybe to support all these functions means a new view (like GeoView) rather than one Gramplet, no ? Note, API license[3] will be hard to translate into French (no fair use & Co). This is typical US law. But I know that LDS are working with our archives (maybe for their index project[4] like done in some French Archives), so maybe they have a valid license for people living out of USA ? I already have a FS username/ password to their site too... I think that it would be an incredible advancement for Gramps to be able to directly interact with FS... Their data storage is probably the most protected storage besides the Government! Their records and computer database is 700 feet under ground!!! Yes, seven hundred feet under ground! The LDS tab in Gramps is for storing LDS data such as baptism, endowment, and sealed data! It is data private to their members... After so many years though the LDS information becomes public knowledge such as U. S. census records, birth, marriage, and death certificates! If UUID is necessary for committing our records/ database with theirs, then let's get started!!! I have no problems with accepting their license in using the api to their databases! I think that it would be great to have the "popup functionality" being added to the gramps-addons api! Doug, if I had the ability to travel with you, I think that it would be very exciting to be able to learn about genealogy from the people who keep the family tree protected by 700 feet of dirt... Their code will come (or be retrieved) from an addon, and the addon can use whatever license it chooses and is appropriate. I have an item on my 3.3 TODO list to allow addons to have a popup "Agree to License" dialog. > Gramps provides a LDS tab, I do not use it, but what is the future for Gramps users ? FamilySearch is run by the LDS (Later Day Saints) people, so I suspect that that will be supported.
