For example my familynickname come from my 4th great grandfather (is derived from his nickname) and is usually append to surname. As that branch become big so another familynickname is added (this one come from my third great grandfather. Other branches of family have their nicknames and they are used in register books sometimes even without distinction between real surname and familynickname. -- Josip |
