Try modifying the startup script in /usr/bin/gramps. Change the line: exec /usr/bin/python -O $GRAMPSDIR/gramps.py "$@" to: exec /usr/bin/python2.5 -O $GRAMPSDIR/gramps.py "$@" There are problems with python 2.6 on jaunty, but you should still have 2.5 installed, which seems to work just fine (at least for me, YMMV).
