Sheila, I would do the following (a bit like others suggested): 0/I use gramps 3.0 1/create a new family tree: temporary_data 2/import your real data into this tree 3/in the tools menu, use the rename event description tool. This will give many of your events a description that has the name of the person in it. This is why we work on the temporary_data tree, and not on your real tree 4/go to source view, and in Edit, create source filter: 'All Sources', which contains the rule: 'all sources' 5/go to event view, in View, activate the filter sidebar. In edit, create an event filter: 'events with no source', in the rules, add rule 'Events with sources', and select as filter the All Sources filter created in 4/. Next, in the Filter editor screen, select the checkbox: results not given by this filter (might be called differently, I am looking at dutch screen now) 6/test the filter. At the right bottom of GRAMPS, you see the number of events, eg 89/89. Now select in the filter sidebar the Custom filter: 'events with no source', and click Find. You will see the screen update. 7/You can now make a second event filter: birth or death events that are also in filter 'events with no source'. Like this, only birth/death events are shown Above works for me. Now, select the columns you want in column editor, and choose: 'Export Screen...' in the Family Tree menu. You an print the text file from an editor, or import in Openoffice Calc or MS Excel, and print the list. You can also print person data. For this, go to person view, and go to Edit Filters, create filter: People with birth/death events with no source, and add the General rule: Person with events from <event fitler>, select the filter made in 5/ (or 7/). You can now export people data, and print it out. Hope this helps. It's impossible to make a report for every possible question, but the filter system gives a lot of possibilities. It would be great if you update http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.0_Wiki_Manual_-_Filtersin return. Benny > > S.
