About promotion, It made freshmeat.net home page for a day. I 'improved' the news on Gramps wiki about the release too. I wanted to make a release page listing new cool things in Gramps 3.0.0, but only had time to update the news section. It is indeed a bit of bummer after all those long hours, but on the other hand, as we don't have a PR team, we have to decide to use our time to code or to create PR ;-) Jason, about the webpage, feel free to try different things, eg a page Jason_mainpage. We created most of the wiki homepage when we switched to mediawiki. Not much changed after that. Note that the translation in many different languages means you shouldn't change text just for the sake of it. There must be some benefit so all those translators don't mind updating their version too. Problem with a large download banner is that we don't have all packages on our own sourceforge, but need to direct people to specific distribution specific places.
