In other words, a repository that stores snapshots of every change made to the code. We use SVN to track changes we make between the releases. Normal users usually see the releases, and the new release may incorporate tons of small changes. SVN 8621 is a revision number corresponding to the state of the code when that particular fix was made. You could run from the SVN, but since you are very new to Linux and Ubuntu and gramps, I would not recommend it. Unless you are really feeling adventurous and won't mind wasting a lot of time learning new things :-) If you are, then read this page: http://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=3DBrief_introduction_to_= SVN (the "Stable version" section). To build from SVN you will need to install some packages that are probably not installed on your machine right now. Let me know if you want further instructions. About the warning: next release of gramps will fix it. Until then, please ignore it. It does not harm, only being annoying. Hope this helps, Alex --=20 Alexander Roitman http://gramps-project.org |
