You can get the file, then install: $ sudo dpkg -i filename.deb and if it will complain that it needs any dependencies (it will not) then you can always say No and abort. You also can always remove gramps and install from the ubuntu sources. It all boils down to the fact that your version is 3 releases old. This means, there are known bugs in your version. This is not to say that 2.0.11 has no bugs at all. But we surely know of a whole lot of problems that were fixed since 2.0.8. > OK, I saved my entire database as a GEDCOM, then created a new database=20 > and imported the new gedcom into it.=20 >=20 > But the problem remains. If you have a gedcom that imports into an empty database and becomes an inconsistent database, please send the gedcom to me or Don, we will take a look. This is a bug, which may or may not be fixed in 2.0.11. > What's going on? Should I try to reinstall GRAMPS? In my opinion, you should install 2.0.11. It's free from dependency conflicts, and you can always fo back to what you have. As a person who fixed a lot of bugs between 2.0.8 and 2.0.11, I cannot in good conscience recommend that you keep using 2.0.8. Of course the decision is yours. But if your gedcom problems are fixed in 2.0.11 then I don't think what else we can do to help, short of waving a magci wand :-) Send us the trouble data and the instructions on what to look at to see the problem. Then we will know what's going on. Alex --=20 Alexander Roitman http://www.gramps-project.org |
