I am using Gnuplot 4.2 on Windows. My understanding is that the y-axis should autoextend to the next major tic unless yfixmin and yfixmax are set. When I try to eliminate exponential labels on the y-axis by defining the labels (see commented ytics statements), I lose autoextention of the yrange to the next whole number of tics. I have tried defining the ymax and ymin range as a function (see commented yrange statement), but cannot figure out how to assign the ymax and ymin values. The ymax and ymin values need to be set automatically from the data.
