Well --- you're using the work-in-progress version:

The occasional surprise is among the risks that entails.

In the case at hand, I'd advise to double-check environment and gnuplot 
commands (inluding a possible ~/.gnuplotrc) for settings that cause the 
C library to expect ',' instead of '.' as a decimal separator.  See 
"help set decimalsign".
