I've had the same question and have been searching for an answer for the last several days. I think the answer is that you can't do that with gnuplot. The only workaround I've found is to plot individual plots and then use another program to aggregate them, for example using latex. See for example, http://t16web.lanl.gov/Kawano/gnuplot/postproc-e.html Good luck. I'm thinking of moving to xmgrace to be able to do this. Let me know if you have any other ideas. Also, possibly, a screen capture?
