black rectangle below rotated color text on x11

Please try this:

set label 1 "hello" at 0,2 rotate by 90
plot x
pause -1

set label 1 textcolor rgb "red"
plot x

=> the the bounding box of the string gets black background on x11. Is it 
possible to fix it?
