I assume you mean "If we had a working VRML driver, then..."

But in fact I did not have much luck with free-wrl when I last
tried it.  The few VRML applications we have around here came
out of the SGI world, and for whatever reason their output was
not usable in free-wrl.  It may have been extended since then,
of course.
