[Gnuplot-info] gnuplot 4.2 world.dat and world.cor files

Hi everyone,
                  Can someone please let me know how to correctly make a map
with points located on the continents on the Earth. I looked up the
world.dem stuff on the gnuplot site and found that they refer to 2 files,
world.dat and world.cor, does anyone what these files contain or where I can
download them from?

I have a list of Latitude and Longitudes which I would lie to plot on the
map of the Earth, and would like to use gnuplot for it. Does anyone know if
using Google Earth would be easier/better for a 2d image?
