What exactly would an "array within a plot" be?  What would distinguish
it from a different type of arrow?

I think the BUGS entry is quite accurate as it is: arrows aren't clipped
at all, and that's clearly wrong.  The discussion what would be right
has just proven to be too involved to be written into BUGS.
