very strange. OK, that's definitely a bug I did not catch.
I have no thoughts on it at the moment, but I hope it will come to
me eventually.

This makes no sense to me. I cannot reproduce it here.
The whole point of the demo was to show that hidden line removal
now works for labels too, but you say you don't get any labels.
What happens if you replace that     splot ... font ",7"
spec with    splot ... font "Helvetica,7" instead?
