[Gnuplot-info] install to non-default location issue

I am having a issue installing.  I install to a non-defualt directory (no 
root priveldges) and everything installs fine.  However, when i run 
gnuplot, and run "test" it is looking for X11 driver in the /usr/local - 
not where I installed it.  I tried X11_DRIVER_DIR flags on make but ti did 
nothing.  same error with the help file.  ANy help is appreciated.
